In the summer of 1991 John was given the position by Hardin Davis as the bluegrass banjo instructor at the Acoustic Music Studios in Salt Lake City. While studying music at the University of Utah, John expanded into guitar instruction as well, maintaining fifty students a week over the next three decades.
Following the closing of the studio in 2020, he now teaches at his home studio in the 9th and 9th area of Salt Lake City.

You will learn bluegrass and melodic style banjo which consists of roll patterns, chords and embellishments weaved together, supporting a melody. These styles make playing the banjo entertaining at any level.
